Product Information

Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient.  Another benefit is reliable feeding in magazine fed firearms.

While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications.  Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.

This bullet requires a barrel TWIST rate of 10” or Faster.

 Great not Good

In the 68 grain weight class, these bullets have proved to be the most accurate bullet I’ve loaded. It has also given me the widest accuracy nodes when doing ladder tests. I’ve had sub 1/2” groups as long as 1 whole grain going up in .3 grain increments. Behind benchmark and varget, this bullet has given me sub 1/4” groups with a factory tikka t3x. The weights of the bullets are some of the most consistent I’ve weighed as well. I definitely would have bought more than 2 boxes if I knew to expect that kind of accuracy.

Sierra makes great bullets! I plan to use these in place of my normal match hpbt as these have a better BC and do provide more controlled expansion in soft targets. Incredibly accurate. Hopefully can get some 77’s some day!

accuracy

did not group very well at 100 yards,4 different 5 shot groups averaged 1-1/4 inches.Have shot much better with different sierra bullets. Will try different powders to better accuracy.All groups shot from savage model 12 with 1-9 twist.

Great for fast twist ar-15

I always just reload mixed brass, never been too picky with my AR. Usually got 2-3" groups with 55grn FMJ. Loaded up some of these with CFE223 and these bullets and started shooting 1" groups with no load development. AR-15 with a 20" 1 /8 twist.

Good not great

Tried several different powders with ok results. 223 with 1:9 twist. I have had great results with other Sierra products, and my expectations where high for these bullets. I only had one combination under 0.5" at 100 yards. Most were around 1". I will try a few more combinations, but expected more combinations around 0.5".
