Product Information

The 265 grain DS Special was designed from the ground up for the 300 Blackout.

The DS Special is a heavy bullet and can therefore be loaded with less gun powder.  Less gun powder can result in less gas in your silencer and a sound quieter.

It has been optimized to use gun powders typically used when loading the 300 Blackout. This was done to ensure proper case fill which can be important to accuracy.

The 265 grain DS Special will feed in most AR's when loaded to an OAL of 2.12". The bullet is 1.375" long, weighs 265 grains and is stable in 8 twist and faster barrels at subsonic velocities.

When loading, ensure the case mouth has an adequate bell otherwise the coating could be stripped off during loading.

These lead cast bullets are made from certified  92-6-2 alloy with a Brinell Hardness of 16 and are then coated in HiTek coating.  The Hi TEK coating molecularly bonds to the bullet totally encapsulating it to  prevent lead to bore contact.

Sized to .310.

This is not loaded ammunition.

For sub-sonic 300AAC Blackout, the heaviest bullet available

By Robert O. on Jan 24, 2023
A friend and I set out to work up sub-sonic rounds for the 300AAC Blackout. Graf’s has these interesting ACME bullets, and Hodgdon has load data for them on their website, so we purchased some of each, the 245gr and the 265gr, and set about loading them. Since velocity is fixed at just below the speed of sound, 1065fps or so, depending on elevation and atmospheric conditions, more bullet weight is the only way to get more muzzle energy, so we started with the 265gr bullets. Loading to Hodgdon’s spec, using CFE BLK, the loads are certainly interesting looking. It was not until we loaded the first batch into a box magazine that we saw an issue. The loaded 265gr rounds did not feed properly into, nor out of, our PMAGs. The “squarish” bullet interfered with the front taper of the sides of the magazine, and that taper extends all the way down. There’s a little “bump” on the side of the magazine lip, which is intended to push the rising round more central, to help with feeding, and that bump acted to scrape to coating off the bullets, as well. Perplexed, we tried a couple of other magazines at hand and found the Troy magazines and Mil-spec metal magazines worked fine. They are both more rectangular in shape. We then tried the 245gr bullets, and loaded them to Hodgdon spec with CFE BLK, and voila, they feed into a PMAG perfectly! The 245gr is more tapered, and steps down in diameter outside the casing. So, if you want the heaviest bullets / most muzzle energy for your 300AAC Blackout, and you don’t mind using metal magazines, the 265gr is the best bullet on the market. If you want to load them into PMAGs, the 245gr is the way to go.
