Due to the packaging and shipping process, case necks are often slightly dinged or bent and need to be rounded up and sized to give proper neck tension. New and/or fired cases must be full-length resized or have the expander ball of the sizing die run through the case neck prior to loading.

Great brass for 280ai each cartridge measures out +-.005 in length. And holds up well

A Really Good Product

By Thomas D. on Sep 27, 2023
Peterson brass is some of the best I have ever used in reloading. My introduction to Peterson Brass came when I bought 200 cases for my 22 Creedmoor with small rifle primers. That particular type of case is not easily found, but Peterson made it and Graf & Sons had it in stock.
Peterson brass in 280AI is sturdy and will stand up to the rigors of reloading and shooting far above what other company’s brass will do. And, it comes to you in a reloading box. Not loose. You still have to run a full length sizing die thru them, but that is standard practice anyway. A great product that won’t disappoint.

Top Shelf Brass

By Harold W. on Aug 15, 2023
I use Peterson for 4 calibers, including my new .280ai. My first rifle using Peterson brass is my .308, and I randomly pulled 12 pieces from my first box of Peterson brass to do some testing. Every time I go shooting I reload that same 12 pieces of brass and shoot them. I'm on the 15th reload with them and I get consistent ES/SD and anneal about every third reload. I will always look for Peterson brass for my rifles.

Quality and consistency in this brass. Have it in multiple calibers. Definitely worthy investment

280AI Peterson brass

By ROBERT D. on Jul 14, 2023
Excellent brass. 23 reloads with 162eldm at 2925fps before failure but primer pockets still tight. Graf and sons accommodated my request for same lot numbers which is important when shooting 600 yard f-class. Cases are heavier and interior volume is less than Nosler brass so if you are switching to Petersen, decrease powder charge. Again, great brass and great company. Robert

Good looking brass. Comes in a nice box to hold reloads.
Brass seems thicker as normal powder charge fills case fuller. Time will tell as to its performance.

I have to say that straight out of the box, the quality of this brass is apparent. On par with Lapua. Very impressive. I'm definitely going to make Peterson my next new brass on some different cartridges.

Peterson 280 AI Brass

By Guy R. on Mar 30, 2023
After running Nosler brass in custom 280 Ackley for the past four years, decided to try Peterson based on reviews and results others have states. Was pleasantly surprised when the brass arrived to find it packaged in plastic boxes with each piece in individual space covered by thick foam. (same as Alpha and other high-end brass manufacturers). No dented necks! Head space, neck thickness, weight measurements were all highly consistent. Initial load workup with this brass has been predictable. Velocities are higher with lower charge weights as advertised, accuracy has been excellent. The Nosler brass was good, the Peterson brass is BETTER and will be all I run now.

I am just getting into reloading, but this brass seems to be of excellent quality. One thing I really liked is that the brass came in an ammo box and was very protected compared to how Nosler brass is packaged.

By Glenn C. on Mar 17, 2023
Excellent quality brass, no nock on nosler hornady or any other brand, these are fantastic and made right here in USA.
I also shoot lapua brass and Peterson is every bit as consistent in quality and velocity, es/sd numbers.
Grab them if you see them, well worth the price.

Simply the Best

By Lance R. on Mar 17, 2023
Have now {finally after waiting 6 months} added this brass to the 6BR and 308 Palma Peterson brass that I already use.
I have gone away from any other brands {I have used all the majors} and use this brass exclusively in all my match rifles... Consistent quality makes for winning scores...!

280AI brass

By David W. on Oct 02, 2022
I have some of the Peterson 280AI brass and it is excellent. Now if you folks would only start making it in 6mm Remington. I imagine there are a lot of folks who would appreciate that.

Wow.

By Bill D. on Nov 10, 2020
I have a wildcat 280 AI so need to fire form SAAMI brass,. It's nice to do this with brass that's so much more substantial than the Nosler brass I had been using. Clearly a bit thicker and thus case capacity is a smidge lower but my pressures are more consistent...and the velocities jumped (3000 fps) and the groups got really tight: .358"..my best ever. My load with this brass is 162 grain ELDX/60 grains R23...Needless to say, I won't use any other brass for this gun.

Top notch brass

By Clint M. on Oct 19, 2020
Great quality very consistent love this brass only downfall is the plastic case they come in was broke probably from shipping i will be buying more .

FINALLY 280AI BETTER THAN NOSLER

By WILLIAM D. on Oct 15, 2020
Excellent brass quality. I was continously frustrated by Nosler's monopoly on decent brass for the 280 AI. Peterson comes through with a better quality cartridge for slightly less $$. AWESOME!!

280 AI Peterson Brass - Lives up to all the claims.

By Richard B. on Oct 10, 2020
I was surprised to see the necks were annealed, the cases were polished, their weights were within 1.4 grains and there were no body dents. I will run them through a Redding bushing neck die for sizing, then load them for forming to my chamber. I will follow up after my next range session.

Top Brass

First time for Peterson Brass. I found it to be uniform in size. I normally use Nosler but will most likely stay with Peterson moving forward.

280AI Peterson brass

By Bob W. on Sep 27, 2020
Initial measurements are very encouraging as the tolerances are held close. Beautifully packed in shooting boxes, no damaged cases were noticed. Getting ready for neck turning for a tight chamber in my rifle. Walls measure .016 and consistent for taper. Leaves me .0015 per side for neck turn and consistent neck tension. Thanks to Peterson for great quality.

Top Quality 280AI Brass

By Brian B. on Sep 17, 2020
After using 280AI Nosler brass for years, I decided to give Peterson 280AI a try. This brass is best in class in my opinion. I use Lapua in a few other cartridges and this is as good or slightly better quality in my opinion. Very consistent in weight and dimensions. Top notch quality control. Made in USA is a bonus. My first experience with Peterson brass. I will definitely try in other cartridges.

Great brass!!

Peterson 280 AI brass

By John M. on Aug 07, 2020
Excellent brass. Consistent weight and necks very uniform. On par or better than Nosler brass and less expensive. Better brass than Norma 280 (which has to be fire formed to AI).
I gave it 4 stars because the necks are not as consistent as their .308 brass.

The New Measuring Stick for Brass

By Benjamin H. on Jul 26, 2020
I bought a Kimber 280AckImp. I decided that I would give Nosler Brass a chance since I'd heard great things and Nosler and Hornady was the only virgin brass options. I wasn't pleased with the quality of the Nosler.
I was very pleased when I was browsing through Grafs and saw Peterson was offering 280AI brass. I had heard great things about Peterson and let me say Peterson lives up to the hype.
First, every box of 50 comes packed in a quality 50rd reusable ammo box with foam to keep each piece of brass from jostling around. Every primer flash hole is very uniform, neat properly head stamped case heads, annealed case necks, and none of my brass was dented or out of round in any way. I weighed each piece and out of the 50 pieces there was no more than .7 grs of variation. I call that consistency and uniform. This brass is in my opinion better than Lapua and those are some tough shoes to fill. In short, Peterson has raised the bar by which all brass should be measured and to top it all off, it's made in AMERICA. Thanks to Peterson for your ever growing selection of first rate products and thanks to Grafs for carrying Peterson products.

Excellent consistancy. All cartridge weights within 1 grain

Excellent Brass

By Patrick V. on Jun 25, 2020
Have a semi-custom 280 AI that I was struggling with load development. All components were similar to my other rifles (bullets, powders, primers, etc) but the Nosler brass. I run either Lapua or Starline in my other rifles and while the Nosler was nice there was something different enough to make me want to look for a substitute. After almost a year I was happy to see Peterson offer 280 AI brass.

Quality is easily on par with Lapua with the best packing in the industry (ships in 50 round cartridge boxes). Cases were significantly heavier than Nosler and the first box of fifty all easily chambered in my rifle. I had to run the Nosler through a Redding body die to get the same result. Flash holes were very uniform and primers seated nice and snug.

Loaded all fifty with a mild load of IMR 7828 SSC to fire form with the 150gr ELD-X and loaded standard COL and ended up with the best groups I've had with the rifle.

Any product that is less expensive and superior to the benchmark gets my business every time.
