Not all primers are equal

Far too often Winchester primers are overlooked or ignored because of prejudices toward their competitor's product. Within the shooting community this is completely understandable. We all use those products we like and have found work to our satisfaction or expectations. In my experience I have to come to realize that the Winchester primer will burn hotter then most primers that aren't designated as “magnum” or “match”. I discovered this when loading for both the 270 Winchester and the 243 Winchester. All things being equal expect the changing to Winchester primers moved my point of impact; raising it by as much as one and one half inches from the original point of aim. My suspicions were confirmed when I shot varying loads over my chronograph and found my velocities increased with Winchester primers.
I cannot say you will have the same results, but if you are looking to give you loads more oomph while staying within a budget you really should put Winchester primers to the test. You just might be pleasantly surprised.
